Performance

The small power supply which is provided with most types of equipment is based on a technology called Switch Mode. Using this technology it is possible to create small, efficient, and low cost power supplies. Unfortunately due to their method of operation (high frequency capacitor charging), these power supplies are also very noisy, causing degradation in sound quality. As an alternative, several after market power supplies exist which are usually based on Linear Regulators. These regulators provides an improvement over the original power supply but as can be seen on the graph below are still limited in their performance.

The MiniTeddy power supply is based on a superior regulator called SuperTeddyReg and provides a significant improvement over linear regulators.

The following graph shows the noise level measurements of the original wall wart power supply (red line), an alternative power supply based on a Liner Regulator (blue line), and the Teddy12/4 power supply (black line). The brown line is a zero Volt reference which is actually the measurement equipment internal noise. As can be seen the MiniTeddy5/2 power supply noise level is very close to the zero Volt reference.

I implemented the Terry Pardo MiniTeddy upgrade power supply with the Bluesound N130.
I play ripped CDs, digitized vinyl LPs, and Qobuz thru the Roon software application.
I do not and have not every used the DAC function of the Node N130, so I cannot comment on that aspect of the devices.
The Node N130 feeds a Naim DAC V1, which feeds vintage Naim electronics, and a vintage pair of passive Linn Isobarik speakers.
The change has resulted in pronounced clarity on low level details of the recordings. Very Good improvement on micro dynamics, and the over all scale of the recordings.
Excellent improvement on percussion on well recorded releases.
Pleased with the purchased. I have used TP devices before and I trust the organization’s commitment to a quality product.

Well made and sounds great. Linear power supplies are the way to go with the node.
Makes me pause getting an external power supply.

This was an excellent upgrade to my system. I think the biggest improvement is the location of instruments and voices in the soundstage. Focus is greatly improved. Soundstage is a smidge wider but definitely more three dimensional. And in general things just sound good. My setup is the Node using internal dac into a Rega Elex integrated amp out to a Hsu Research subwoofer into Tekton Lore speakers. Thanks Teddy Pardo for an affordable upgrade that gives what it promises.

Excellent power supply for the Chord Qutest. I have been using, with pleasure, the iFi power elite ($299us) for a couple years and was happy but the more I use Teddy Pardo power supplies the more I’m impressed. Compared to the ifi, the background is quieter/blacker, smoother presentation and more “musical”… something like that. Right out of the box I could tell the Qutest was finally singing the way it wants. Very happy with this power supply and the customer service as well! Thank you.
