Details
The Bluesound Icon Power Supply Upgrade Kit replaces the internal switch-mode power-supply in the Node Icon streamer, with a Teddy Pardo Audio high performance external power supply.
This upgrade kit can be installed in 10, without requiring any special tools or soldering, making it suitable for non-technical users. The result is a big step forward in the sound quality of the, bringing it very close to the level of network streamers costing twice as much..
Background
The Node Icon is originally equipped with a low-cost switch-mode power supply, similar to the power supplies that can be found in many consumer level products. This power supply has insufficient performance level in term of clean power delivery, resulting in mediocre overall sound quality. The upgrade kit offered here brings the Node Icon a major step forward, both in analog and digital outputs.
MiniTeddy Special Edition (released 09/2024)

The MiniTeddy Special Edition, scheduled to start shipping on 09/2024, is a complete redesign of the standard edition. It is based around our new Tedinator discrete voltage regulator.
The Tedinator is a fully discrete design, based entirely on ultra low noise JFET transistors with no IC chips. It is the result of countless hours of development, testing and listening. Its design is inspired by the writings of great minds like Walt Jung and Nelson Pass.
With the new Tedinator and the new circuit around it, we were able to achieve impressive new levels of low noise, low output impedance and fast response time, resulting in a highly involving sound, perfectly timed and with no apparent phasing errors, hence our new slogan : The Art of Silence.
Node Icon kit contents:
- MiniTeddy Special Edition power supply with 5v DC output.
- Custom-made rear panel adapter, wired with DC plugs.
- High quality DC cable.
New (03/2026): Bluesound Node Icon Stage 2 Upgrade
The Stage 2 Upgrade bypasses the internal power distribution network inside the Node Icon, and replaces it with an external power supply, delivering 3 seperate supply rails:
- Bipolar +/-12v for the analog+DAC section.
- 5v for the digital control section (on board computer).
This upgrade does away with noisy components in the original power distribution network, resulting in a lower noise floor, better dynamics and a wider soundstage.
The Stage 2 upgrade is not available as a DIY kit, and can only be performed in Teddy Pardo Audio HQ, as well as Hardcore Hifi in the USA.
The Stage 2 includes:

Sound
Comparing with the Node Icon in its original form, the upgraded model reaches sound quality levels that surpass network streamers at twice the cost: it shows better focus and clarity, wider and deeper soundstage, and deeper bottom octave.
Comparison to other conversion solutions
We asked a customer to describe the differences between Teddy Pardo external power supply, to another solution which can be assembled internally. Here are his comments:
Teddy Pardo’s power solution is much easier to install, takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. The soundstage is wider and more focused, the presentation is more relaxed, better balanced and easy on the ear on long listening sessions.
Conversion instructions:
Step 1: Disconnect the Node Icon, turn it upside down, remove rubber seal and 4 screws
Step 2: gently pull the bottom cover upwards, starting from the side where the headphone socket is located
Step 3: Remove the power supply plastic cover, disconnect the two plugs connecting the power supply (Marked in green below)
Step 4: Remove the internal power entry socket, held in place by two connecting screws
Step 5: Insert the panel adapter, with text facing upwards, use the original screws from step 4
Step 6: Insert the plug connecting the main board, make sure it’s locked in place, note the plug lever direction
Step 7: re-assemble to plastic cover to to the original power supply, there is no need to remove it.
Step 8: re-assemble the bottom cover , re-place the rubber seal

I ordered the power supply, hoping for some improvement.
When I hooked it up, there was an instant lose of words, I could only marvel.
Highly Recommend!

I installed the LPS with my Bluesound Node Icon using a Cardas Clear digital cable. The result was a much better sound stage, more 3D like music presentation. Better separation of instruments and details. It was a global improvement and is overall an excellent addition to mt system.
Fitting was very easy. And the sound difference it makes is amazing..

I just received my LPS kit today. I installed it immediately with zero issues in about 15 minutes. I wasn’t really expecting the kind of SQ improvement that I heard. I’ve been listening to a wide variety of my go-to test tracks for the past 3 hours, and the sound just keeps catching me off guard. I’ll be listening and all of a sudden I hear something I had not noticed before or I’ll notice a change in dynamics of a passage that I am intimately familiar with. The soundstage has nearly doubled in size and depth. The attack on percussion is really enhanced and powerful. I’ve been auditioning a PS Audio DirectStream DAC for the past 3 weeks, and I just boxed it up to return it. It sounds great, but it DOES NOT exceed this Node ICON with Teddy’s LPS powering it. I can’t recommend this upgrade enough!!
